The flesh is the hinge of salvation. Caro Cardo Salutis. Easter teaches us that God is not simply transcendent or from above. He has come in flesh and blood of humanity so that we can associate ourselves with sharing in his resurrection. We are the children of God living with promise of everlasting life. ~ Fr. Matt
In the crossbeams we see life and death, sin and salvation, conquest and victory, immanence and transcendence. We see the most base aspects of the human condition and the most sublime of our humanity. Let us contemplate this while we hold the palm branches. ~ Fr. Matt
John’s gospel has only seven miracles. The emphasis of each, on our part is a deeper belief in Jesus. Every miracle reveals the greater glory of God. All that we experience is for the glory of God. Allow the Divine to work within us during the deprivation of public Eucharistic celebrations. ~ Fr. Matt
We are called to reflect on the challenges and obstacles of our spiritual movement. We are capable of overcoming that which keeps us from the wholeness of our destiny. ~ Fr. Matt
After her encounter with Jesus at the well the Samaritan woman invites others to “Come and See.” Every day of Lent we are called to be cleansed, taught, renewed, and satisfied by Jesus’ great gift. ~ Fr. Matt
Sometimes we make our Lenten plans very carefully. What do I want to learn, what do I want to do for Lent? We should go into the Lenten desert with one thing, our vulnerability to God. ~ Fr. Matt
The opposite side of fascination is fear. The Transfiguration addresses that reaction in us as we encounter a sacred event. God’s love for us overcomes fear. ~ Fr. Matt
We’ve all come to a YIELD sign while driving. If we don’t obey it there could be a wreck. Jesus is recommending us to yield to the temporal items in life during the Lenten season.~ Fr. Matt
Encyclopedia Britannica defines law as a discipline and profession concerned with customs, practices, and rules of a community that are recognized as binding by the community. Jesus presumes the observance of Ten Commandments as a minimum requirement. Today we celebrate his messianic presence among us are reminded of how much he has graced us and of the more to which we are called. ~ Fr. Matt
Taste and see the goodness of the Lord. Connatural Knowledge comes from being the person we are. Jesus called his disciples to live in such a way that others would experience the saving presence of God. ~ Fr. Matt
